Lorem Ipsum is placeholder text commonly used in the printing and typesetting industry. It has been the standard placeholder text since the 16th century when an unknown printer assembled a type case to prepare a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries but also the transition to electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It gained popularity in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing passages of Lorem Ipsum, and more recently with desktop publishing software such as Aldus PageMaker, which included versions of Lorem Ipsum.
